Yes, I would very much like to improve my currently very deficient proficiency in Livonian. A few years ago, I had almost given up hope that I could find a way to do that. As for the Livonian Wikipedia, this is the most tangible possibility for me to use Livonian, to form sentences in Livonian. Of course, I have taken to reading transcriptions of nīžõd told by Pētõr Damberg (as published by Seppo Suhonen in the booklet Liivin kielen näytteitä, Helsinki 1975) and I guess I will sometime in the foreseeable future resuscitate my intention of translating a collection of Livonian folktales into Estonian (mostly on the basis of some other collections published in Finland, most probably).

But as I live and work in Tallinn, the next most probable forum (after Wikipedia) for using Livonian for me would be Facebook or some other e-channel. In any case, I am open to new ideas. The general impression I have received (about ten years ago) is that Livonian in Latvia is mostly used for singing about twenty best-known folksongs.

In any case, a Livonian Wikipedia could have its uses for current, future or past students of Finno-Ugric languages who have studied Livonian or scholars who keep doing it. In a couple of decades, the University of Tartu has produced hundreds of people with some knowledge of Livonian, and continues to routinely teach a basic course of Livonian to students of Finno-Ugric languages.

And the mutual integration between the communities who are interested in different small Baltic-Finnic languages (Vepsian, Karelian, Votic, Livonian, Võro, Seto) could always be improved. The Wikimedia Foundation can provide some tools for this. This is the more general idea that has directed my interest towards the Livonian Wikipedia. As international surveys show, Wikipedia is one of the most influential trademarks in the world. And "Livonian Wikipedia" as a trademark could improve the prestige of the Livonian language for pretty much anyone. So it can be seen as a

Maps in LTG Wikipedia

There are/were five maps. Listed with deletion comment if they had been deleted:

1. File:Latgolys upu zemislopys Usa.PNG ‎(Replaced by better file)
2. File:Latgolys upu zemislopys Pededze.PNG ‎(Replaced by better file: Fluss-lv-Pededze.png)
3. File:Latgolys upu zemislopys Rezne.PNG (Replaced by better file: Fluss-lv-Rēzekne.png)
4. File:Latgolys upu zemislopys Kira.png / not deleted, but now in Commons
5. File:Latgolys upu zemislopys Sarjanka.PNG / not deleted, but now in Commons

The maps have no text, therefore "Those what we had were in Latgalian language" is not correct. Usa was not used, the next two replaced, for the last two, no replacement was found.

The maps show Latvia as outline and the part of the river in Latvia.

On the other hand, there is a set of 42 files in commons:Category:Maps of rivers in Latvia named "File:Fluss-lv-<river name>.png". They show rivers on a relief map that shows Latvia and some neighboring areas. That means, there are more files for a consistent set and the files in that set have more information. Additionally they are used in several Wikipedias so more people take care of error checking.

Well, have to think about oppurtunity to use maps in Latvian from Commons. The thing is that we are having different topo names for local objects (for example, French don't). Yes, in our's maps there is no text (only description), but in Commons maps there is and it's not in Latgalian. You made them and you released them as CC-BY-3.0. You not only put the Template:CC-BY-3.0 on the file description pages, but you also are the creator of the template [1].

Changing them to be meta:non-free content might be impossible. If it is possible, then it has to be made sure they adhere to the wmf:Resolution:Licensing policy. Since there is no EDP all need to be deleted. The Sar'yanka photo would require deletion even if there is an EDP because a free alternative exists. The others may require to be deleted too.

There are 30 000 000+ files in Commons. Several Wikipedias have zero local media files (meta:List of Wikipedias having zero local media files), i.e. all their files come from Commons.
